The entrance to the church is beneath a slightly pointed arch, above which there is a Renaissance alcove and two stone corbels which would have supported an old porch roof.
There is a small, lintelled doorway on the right which gives access to the internal staircase which leads up to the belfry. The top part is a spiral staircase with an arrowslit window which gives the church a fortress-like appearance. The facade is decorated with two lines of cornicing between which there are two large zoomorphic gargoyles.
The rectangular gothic nave is built of rough stone masonry with granite ashlar reinforcements and has a gable roof. It is divided in three parts by buttresses and has two different rooflines. There were originally two entrances in the middle part but the north-side entrance has been blocked up. The south-side entrance incorporates a modern side chapel.
The Renaissance-gothic chancel is the highest part of the church. It is made of rough stone masonry and is nearly square. There are two buttresses on each side with a modern sacristy between them on the south side. At the top, there is a sculpted granite cornice supporting four pinnacles.
At the sides, there are two ogee-arched windows which fill the interior with light.
The interior of the church is spacious and has a rectangular floor plan. The nave is divided in three sections separated by round diaphragm arches made of cut stone. These support a simple wooden gable roof.
The choir loft is supported by a diminished round arch made of granite.
Access to the chancel is beneath a pointed arch which has a similar shape to the arch on the back wall. The chancel is covered by a ribbed vault with tiercerons supported by stone corbels. The ribs are granite and the panels are brick. Behind the main chapel, there is a small space, an extension of the chancel, which is covered by a pointed barrel vault.
On the epistle (south) side there is a large alcove beneath a beautifully decorated round arch opposite which there is a 16th century granite pulpit. This is supported by a sturdy column with a large impressive capital on which there is an undecorated geometric shape.
The main altarpiece is in the baroque style and was completed in 1661. It rests on a predella and is composed of two tiers divided into three panels and a top, attic tier.
There is a magnificent ostensorium in the central panel above which there is an image of the Virgin Mary and a crucifix.
There are four more baroque altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries which decorate the interior of this beautiful church. These are gilded, painted or bare wood and house many religious images.
